YOU can prevent spread of HIV!
An American living in Berlin, Dr Gero Huetter said a few days back that he had cured an American man who suffered from AIDS by bone marrow transplantation.
As tests are going on and a final verdict of the patient’s health status is yet to be released, I would say that might as well prevent Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection rather than get cured by it. There are a lot of ways by which we can prevent this deadly virus.
HIV is a virus which causes a condition in which the immune system begins to fail.
Methods to prevent spread of HIV:
#1 Abstinence is the only certain way of preventing HIV. It is best to avoid sex till marriage. But this is easy said than done, so there are other and more reasonable ways by which we can prevent HIV from spreading.
#2 It is essential to know about safe sex practices and one should get himself or herself regularly tested for HIV.
#3 The most easy method to spread transmission is by the usage of condoms.
#4 Limiting yourself to one sex partner.
#5 It is important to talk to your sex partner about his/her past sexual history and share your own.
#6 Avoid alcohol and drugs as they can impair judgment which often leads to having sex without a condom due to the inebriated state.
#7 Use a water-based lubricant to help prevent tearing of the skin if there is a lack of lubrication during sexual intercourse. Tears in the vagina lead to entry of the virus in the blood.
#8 Avoid douching as it can lead to a change in the normal flora of the vagina.
#9 Do not share intravenous needles, syringes with others.
In 2007, around 32 million people were believed to live with HIV, and it killed an estimated 2.1 million people that year.
The number has been under control and at least it isn’t increasing due to safer sex practices.
It is our responsibility to stop the spread of this deadly virus.
