It’s a known fact that kids need regular exercise to build strong bones. One of the easiest ways to keep them active is by letting them play sports.

But how will you know which sport your kid is interested in?

Researchers at ‘Atlas Sports Genetics’ have developed a ‘101-pound test’ (a DNA test) which will predict whether a child’s natural abilities tend towards speed and power sports (such as football) or endurance sports (such as long distance running) or a combination of two.

In this test, you have to take a swab from your child’s mouth and then send it to a lab to test for ACTN3 gene which is linked to athletic success.

These tests will give you some guidance on what type of sports you might want to introduce your child into.

They have 3 types of products available based on age:

ATLAS First
Age: 1 and up.
Cost: $149

ATLAS Plus
Age: 7 and up
Cost: $249

ATLAS Pro
Age: over 10 years
Cost: $999

My Advice:

Science is advancing a lot. But, personally I feel it’s best we find out ourselves what our children are good at. It’s best to get him enrolled in a school that has a variety of sports. It’s best if he chooses himself by a trial and error method and then you can encourage him in whatever he chooses.

What would you like for your child?
