Roller coasters and your heart
Roller coasters are not good for your heart. If you have a heart disease, then say NO to a roller coaster as it has potential dangerous effects.
A research, conducted by University Hospital (Mannheim, Germany) in 2005 on 55 young people, concluded that your heart rate increases during the ride especially during the ascending part of the ride. A lot of riders had irregular heart beats for several minutes after they got off the ride.
It’s important to note that sitting on a roller coaster and doing exercise are completely different even though in both cases your heart beats faster. Doing exercise is beneficial for the heart whereas the other one is not.
The research also proved that younger people without heart disease did not have any effect of the increased heart beat but if the person had a heart condition or a high blood pressure, then it was dangerous.
In the US, 1 in 150 million rides on a roller coaster result in death and there are 900 million rides each year.
