Do you have a sore throat?
A sore throat is an infection of your pharynx usually caused by a virus or bacteria.
It is commonly caused by a weak immune system or a food allergy. Other causes include singing or excessive shouting.
Prevention:
#1 Vitamin E acts as an anti-oxidant and improves your immunity. Rich sources are almonds, nuts, olives, spinach, milk.
#2 Vitamin A generates antibodies which boosts your immunity. Rich sources are carrots, sweet potatoes, liver, spinach, broccoli leaves.
#3 Vitamin C makes your white blood cells stronger which prevent infection. Rich sources are plum, oranges, papaya, kiwi, strawberries.
#4 Consume less sugar as it will make you less vulnerable to infections. If there is more amount of sugar in your blood, organisms will thrive better.
#5 Drink plenty of water (at least 1 liter per day). Green tea, fruit juices are good too.
#6 Change your toothbrush frequently.
#7 Sleep well at night. Don’t stress yourself as it will decrease your immunity.
#8 Exercise regularly.
#9 Probiotics (friendly bacteria) help in restoring the normal flora of your gut. It helps in inhibiting growth o bacteria as well.
If you already have a sore throat, here’s what you can do:
#1 Salt water gargling. Warm water is better as it melts the fatty coating around viruses.
#2 Lozenges (especially the ones with glycerin) also provide temporary relief.
#3 Antibiotics may be necessary. Take only on advice from a doctor.
#4 Wash your hands before meals. And always wash the utensils that you use. Never share it with anyone else.
