Why some people never fall sick?

Why some people never fall sick?

Have you always admired your co-workers who never fall sick? How is it that they are able to maintain good health throughout the year? How do they manage in the cold?

It’s not that hard! Here are some easy ways which will help you boost your immunity.

#1 Exercise regularly. As I’ve mentioned in a lot of my previous posts, you don’t need to go the gym. Walking for 30 minutes everyday helps too. Dancing is a good form of exercise too.

#2 Quit smoking and decrease your alcohol intake. Both of these are important risk factors for a variety of diseases especially heart diseases and diabetes.

#3 Avoid stressful situations. Constant worrying increases your cortisol and epinephrine levels which will weaken your immunity.

#4 Eating an apple everyday is good too. Apples contain anti-oxidants which boost your immunity.

#5 Increase your vitamin intake. Multi-vitamin tablets are always good. If that’s not possible, drink a glass of orange juice everyday. Orange juice contains Vitamin C which is an anti-oxidant too.

#6 A research paper published in Chicago showed that gargling everyday with an antiseptic mouthwash and brushing your teeth regularly helped ward off some illnesses. Poor oral hygiene was associated with diseases like diabetes.

Wash your hands regularly!#7 You must wash your hands before and after eating. Also, wash your hands when switching to another activity. I always wash my hands after I use my laptop. Even though I keep my laptop clean, some germs might still be there.

#8 Sleep well. 7-8 hours of sleep is good. At night, melatonin levels increase which improves immunity.

#9 Improve your social ties. In a study conducted in the UK, it was shown that people who have more diverse social networks are less likely to get heart disease.

#10 Always be positive. Be happy, calm and enthusiastic.

Great info. I didn’t know that you could avoid getting sick by gargling mouthwash. I don’t get sick that often because I do some of the things you listed. I wash my hands and use sanitizer after touching almost anything in my house or in public.

I had no idea “Gargling everyday with an antiseptic mouthwash and brushing your teeth regularly helped ward off some illnesses. Poor oral hygiene was associated with diseases like diabetes.”

I am diabetic and no one has ever mentioned this to me before.

    Thank you.

Some really great tips. I eat apples everyday just because I like them so it’s good to see the health value as well. I sometimes forget to wash my hands before and after I eat. Walking is also a form of therapy. Just being out in the fresh air has many benefits. Great post.

Oh my, washing your hands after using your laptop!! i did not know that. Thinking about it, it is a warm and cozy place for germs, bacteria and all other stuff my 3 year old picks easily at per-school.
I am off washing my hands ;-)
    Thanks alot

What a great list of tips! I’m curious though as to why you should wash your hands *after* you eat? I could see it if you used your hands to eat some of the foods, but if you used silverware?

Alternatively, buy a large bubble and live in it. Try it today.

Great tips friend! While I do follow most of the tips mentioned religiously gurgling wasn’t a part of that! I didn’t know that and thanks for informing about it!

@laneerg: Yes, I was referring to ‘if you eat with your hands’. It’s very common to eat fruits with your hands and not wash your hands after that.

About mouthwash — I read somethng recently about a study that found that using mouthwash that contains alcohol may increase the risk of getting cancers of the mouth — so they’re recommending that people use mouthwashes that don’t contain alcohol. Oh, well. It’s always something!

Interesting! I guess there’s a reason why I don’t get sick that often when I keep my life simple (and eating more of those colorful fruits and veges!). Thanks for the informative post, will follow for hopefully more insightful tips!

Excellent post - may I share this post at work? My employer sponsors a wellness program and what you list in this post is what they teach. My company has very little down time with colleagues due to illness. We are an office work environment with a full fitness program, fitness coach on staff, fresh fruit each day, weekly wellness tips sent through our email, and a host of other programs and benefits for wellness.

Also, if you start getting a cold, don’t dwell on it and feel sorry for yourself. Live your day and pretty soon you’ll notice it goes away. :)
